50% of men by the age of 60 and 70% of men over the age of 60 suffer from an enlarged prostate (BPH-benign prostatic hyperplasia).

FAQs

  • Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is the enlargement of the prostate that may occur as you age. The prostate can start to compress your urethra (the tube from your bladder that carries urine) causing a decrease in your flow and in extreme cases can stop you from being able to urinate entirely.

  • Rezūm therapy is a one-time, minimally invasive procedure that uses sterile water vapour to treat an enlarged prostate. Radiofreqeuncy energy heats the water, creating vapor that is injected into the prostate tissue. This causes controlled shrinkage of the tissue, alleviating urinary symptoms over time.

The treatment involves brief, 9-second bursts of vapour, with the number of bursts depending on prostate size. The body gradually absorbs the treated tissue, reducing prostate size and improving urinary flow.
